    We first found Smith-Madrone in the 90's, trying to avoid the wine auction crowds on the valley flooor. Since then, it's been our favorite wine and winery and a must visit when we go to Napa. Charlie and Stu are generous with their wine and their abundant knowledge of the art of wine production. The site is gorgeous. Their recent anniversary party was the best winery party I've attended. Sadly, it was the day before the fires began. Our thoughts and hopes for a safe outcome are with them during this terrible fire.
